If Groupmuse were to have a mascot, it would be Schubert. Perhaps the greatest genius of melody in Western History, Schubert and his chubby little face adorn Groupmuse.com. It's the profile behind the white groupmuse "g" that constitutes our website icon, it's the face in the painting in the background, it's our Facebook photo, and on. So when our beloved comrades at the Orchestra of St. Luke's told us they were doing a three-week Schubert mini-festival and they wanted Groupmuse to come along, we couldn't believe our luck.
And so, it's with great pride and excitement that we present A Groupmuse Day Out at the Brooklyn Museum, featuring Schubert's ever-joyous and monumental Trout Quintet, as told by our heroes at the Orchestral of St. Luke's.
But wait. There's more. Schubert isn't the only genius who'll be present this Sunday afternoon. The Brooklyn Museum is in the middle of a landmark Georgia O'Keefe exhibit - one that explores not just her life's work as an artist, but the transformational influence she had on modern feminism.
Tickets are typically $40, but because it's the OSL and we love them and it's Groupmuse and the OSL loves us, we've got a limited stack available for $20, and that $20 will get you not only into the concert, but into the museum as well. The O'Keefe is a special exhibit, so it does have its own admission cost, but how could it not be worth it.
It'll be a whole lot of eternal beauty and genius for a single Sunday afternoon, but we're confident you can handle it.
