The Catalyst Quartet has a bold and compelling mission: “We believe in the unity that can be achieved through music and imagine our programs and projects with this in mind.” The New York Times summed up their artistry: “beautiful to watch, like a family in lively conversation at the dinner table: anticipating, interrupting, changing subjects.” Pianist Stewart Goodyear is a perfect match for the Catalyst, “one of the best pianists of his generation” (Philadelphia Inquirer).

This evening, we'll have two masterworks by two composers of color - String Quartet No. 1 by George Walker, the first African American to have won the Pulitzer Prize for Music, and Five Fantasiestücke for String Quartet and Piano Quintet in G minor by Samuel Coleridge Taylor, a titanic talent, a black Romantic composer from England, and an artist who is finally getting his due.

Tickets are typically $50, but you can get yours through Nights Out for only $25!

Or, for a $100 ticket, you can go to any of our upcoming seven Nights Out with San Francisco Performances.
