Hi Lovely People,
I thought about doing the classic DC drinking/going to dance on bartops for my birthday, but then decided to get classy with a house concert at my place instead :) (and then we can proceed with the BarPlan). GroupMuse is an amazing startup out of Boston that matches young classically trained musicians with house parties, and is an awesome way to bring people together in support of local music. I was an early adopted when I lived in Boston and am super excited that they've now expanded to DC!
Basically you come over for some drinks and hanging out, Groupmuse sends over a musician (or even a quartet if you have a big enough space! Which I don't. Yet.), they set up and play a 45 minute set with a break for refilling drinks, and at the end we pass around a hat! It's a $10 required 'donation' (which obviously is totally worth it).
I have a tight space so sadly can't open this up to everyone I would love to have, but assuming this one works out well I will definitely be hosting more once I move into our larger Mt. Pleasant house!
