About

Sebastian Stöger, cellist,
is currently in his 3rd-year at The Juilliard School, studying with Joel Krosnick. Sebastian was featured at the NPR radio From the Top show on Oct. 14, 2012, in Boston’s Jordan Hall. There, he was chosen as the winner of the 2012 Jack Kent Cooke Artist Award. In Spring 2017, he was named a YoungArts Winner. The summer festivals he attended include The Perlman Music Program, Yellow Barn Young Artist Program, and the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival. In 2016, Sebastian joined Omega Ensemble. This organization has given him a fantastic opportunity to perform solo concert works and chamber music works at upscale venues all over the New York Metropolitan area.
Sebastian has performed solo and chamber concerts in major venues, including Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, Jordan Hall, Steinway Hall, and Alice Tully Hall.
Sebastian currently plays on a Jean Baptiste Vuillaume cello, circa 1855.

Music

For solo performances: All Bach Suites, selections from the 12 Piatti Caprices, and other works by Dallapiccola, Ligeti, and I'll learn works by Kodaly.
For performances with another cellist: Offenbach Duos (which I find audiences really adore), duos by Bach, and many other classical, romantic, and contemporary composers.
I play many different chamber music types: String quartets by all classical, romantic, and modern composers, piano trios, quintets, sextets, etc.
I can play all Beethoven Sonatas, sonatas by Brahms, Franck, Schubert, Grieg, and I am constantly learning more.
I can also play showpieces by Popper, Tchaikovskly, Chopin, Schumann, Faure, Rostropovich, Grieg, etc...
