About
Shuo is a creative professional with pursuits spanning both music and architecture. He graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in music, focusing on collaborative piano and vocal performance.
As a pianist, Shuo is a frequent collaborator with string players and vocalists; engagements have included recitals with members of the LA Phil, productions with the Little Opera Theater of NY, and masterclasses with soloists such as Gil Shaham.
Shuo is also an avid choral singer, having been a decade-long member of the Grammy-winning Los Angeles Master Chorale. He has performed under the baton of conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Esa-Pekka Salonen, and Zubin Mehta. He can be heard on the soundtrack of the last two Star Wars movies; he also sang at the Oscars last year!
As an architect, Shuo graduated with a Master of Architecture from Yale, and worked for nearly a decade in Frank Gehry’s studio in LA. Shuo recently founded his NYC-based residential architecture practice, Zhai Design.
Music
I love playing any sort of classical chamber music, especially works for piano and strings. I also love collaborating on solo instrumental and vocal recitals! Additionally, 4-hand piano repertoire is always great to play!
