Note: This is not the typical massivemuse - this classical music immersion gives the audience opportunities to engage with the music and musicians throughout the evening ... so expect something a little different.

Groupmuse and Pioneer Works have teamed up with Shattered Glass and the Choreographies for Survival working group to create a social choreography for the musicians and audience alike. The goal of this event is to engage the senses in deep modes of observation, using classical music as the medium for expanding, heightening, and investigating one’s perceptive capacities and for improving one’s skill of listening.

When we listen closely to classical music, when we give it all of our attention and focus, something special happens - the music can move us, and in doing so, it changes us. We feel something for the first time, we create a new association, we build a new pathway in the mind. We experience something beautiful. But do you know how to listen closely to music? Have you ever tried experimenting with different modes of listening, to see how it effects what you're listening to? This is what we're going to find out on April 21st, for an extremely unique massivemuse at the iconic Pioneer Works.

Each person that attends will be given instructions for how to practice different modes of listening, and will have the opportunity to embody each mode of listening however one chooses; this means that there will likely be mass movement during the performance.

Doors are at 7:00 PM, with the event starting promptly at 7:30 PM. Beer and wine will be available by donation, and we'll have the chance to debrief the experience and hang out by the fire after it ends (around 9-9:30 PM).

This will be an interesting experience to say the least, and we can't wait to share it with you! Learn more about everyone involved in making this happen:

Groupmuse, almost 6 years ago

Hello everyone! We are very excited for tonight, and hope you're feeling the same way. Here are a couple of important details for this evening that we wanted to share:

Doors - 7:00 PM
Performance starts - 7:40 PM

There seems to be significant delays with the trains, so please do what you can to arrive here on time. We want everyone to receive the instructions that will precede the performance.

Additionally, please bring as little with you as possible. We will be asking everyone to check their coats and bags, and take their shoes off to leave in a designated area.

Thanks and see you all shortly!
