Shattered Glass

String Ensemble

About

Shattered Glass is a conductorless string ensemble that fuses the beauty and precision of an orchestra with the raw energy of a punk rock band. From its inception in 2012 SG has been musician operated and fiercely dedicated to changing the face of classical music through member-chosen programming, rotating leadership, and collective artistic direction.

This fresh and exciting approach to all aspects of performance has led to a wide array of opportunities: an album of world premier recordings and accompanying music video, multiple self- governed Midwest tours, performances at high profile events such as at TEDxEAST and the SphinxConnect Artist Showcase in Detroit, their Carnegie Hall premiere at Zankel Hall in 2013, and in Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium in 2014 featuring violin soloist Alexander Markov.

SG’s 2018-19 season includes performances at the prestigious Schneider Concerts series at The New School For Music and as Guest Artists at Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival.
