Cellist Philip Sheegog is a dynamic collaborative artist who maneuvers within a diverse array of musical personas with ease. Drawing from roots influenced by a myriad of musical styles, Mr. Sheegog has been sought out for projects from all ends of the musical spectrum, from The Juilliard School’s contemporary ensemble, AXIOM, to the Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses video game music tour. A passionate advocate for collaboration and commissioning, Mr. Sheegog has premiered over new seventy works by living artists from choreographer John Heginbotham to film composer Christopher Gunning. Projects have led him to work with groups such as the New York hip-hop/classical collective ShoutHouse, the International Contemporary Ensemble, and the Steve Miller Rock Band. Mr. Sheegog is a recent graduate of The Juilliard School where he served as co-principal cellist of the Juilliard Orchestra and was an inaugural member of the institution’s Honors Chamber Music program.

I enjoy performing a wide variety of genres and introducing audiences to music that they've never heard before. Everything from Bach to Britten to Boulez, free improvisation, jazz standards, rock, folk, or contemporary classical is fair game! I particularly enjoy collaborating with composers and presenting audiences with world premieres, letting them become part of musical history.
